USE:
For the protection of flanges and similar structures from corrosion above ground, buried or immersed. To protect the metal structure from the environment the tapes must cover the entire surface.
APPLICATION
1. Surface preparation:
Surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove all loose rust, scale and flaking coatings by scraping, wire brushing or blast cleaning.
2. Priming:
For all diameter pipes and flanges apply Prempaste by gloved hand or brush in a thin layer over the entire surface including threads, crevices and pitted areas.
Apply one coat of Prempaste over the entire area to be wrapped. Allow to dry.
3. Premier Moulding Compound
Profile the pipe joint, flange, valve with Premier Moulding Compound so that there will be no air gaps under the subsequent tape wrapping. Push the mastic firmly into all cavities and around all bolt heads building it up to form a profile suitable for wrapping without forming bridges or voids.
4. Premtape Tropical:
Firstly, wrap the tape in horizontal strips, starting from the bottom upwards in weatherboard fashion, overlapping by at least 55% to give a double wrap.
Secondly, spirally wrap the tape with tension, starting from the one side of the flange, overlapping each turn by at least 55% to give a double wrap. Smooth finished wrap down well particularly at the tape edges.
Apply sufficient tension to conform the tape to the surface without gaps. Do not overstretch. Start a new roll by overlapping the ends by one tape width.
Press down all folds and smooth the entire area with special attention to the overlaps.
5. Premier PVC SA Tape 200
Wrap Premier PVC SA Tape 200 as the final layer to provide the long-lasting outer.
